Dynamic Positioning Vessel Maintainers (DPVM) course

Dynamic Positioning Vessel Maintainers (DPVM) course

The course has been developed to help meet the continuing professional development needs for technical staff engaged in operations aboard vessels with Dynamic Positioning (DP) equipment. Training on vessel-specific equipment is necessary if the equipment is sufficiently unique that training on similar equipment does not provide an adequate level of skill, knowledge and ability. A good understanding of the DPO’s responsibilities by Technical DP personnel and on-board familiarization with the DPO’s task in controlling specific DP operations will aid quick and appropriate response to problems associated with any equipment that affects it.

The course consists of two parts. Part A – Provides training to help meet the continuing professional development (CPD) needs for technical staff engaged in operations onboard vessels with dynamic positioning equipment. Part B – Provides training on vessel/OEM specific equipment.

The DP Vessel Maintainer (DPVM) Scheme was launched in March 2021, and is designed for engineers, ETOs and other non-deck department, technical personnel serving on board DP-equipped vessels. (5 days)
